In India, liquor is banned in the states and union territories of Bihar, Gujarat, Mizoram, Nagaland, Lakshadweep. That means it is a dry state. Only defense personnel can buy liquor in Bihar. However, this exemption regarding consumption and sale of liquor is limited to the cantonment area only.

Permit will have to be taken to buy liquor in Gujarat

In 1960, when Gujarat was separated from Maharashtra, a new state was formed. Since then, the prohibition law is in force in Gujarat. But in Gujarat any person can buy liquor with a permit. Any person above 21 years of age can obtain a temporary permit for liquor in Gujarat. So retired defense personnel and people of 40 years of age or above can buy liquor with health permit. However, the quantity of liquor purchased has been fixed.
